Enjoying An Unforgettable Experience With Elephants In Thailand
When you and your family are going on holiday to Thailand, one thing you will want to ensure you experience is visiting an elephant nature park to experience these beautiful animals. There are various parks you can experience throughout the country, and most offer similar programs. Below is a summary of what you can expect when attending one of these parks and spending a day enjoying these majestic animals.
An Early Start
Depending on the elephant park you visit, it is usually an early start, so you must be up early and ready to go, usually by 8 am. The park will collect you from your accommodation and whisk you off to see the elephants, and they will often play a video about their elephant park on the minibus while travelling. You can also sometimes stop for some extra food for the elephants from one of the many local markets to ensure they have plenty of food.
Arriving At The Park
Upon arrival at the elephant park, you will be greeted, and some parks will give you clothes to put on to save yours from getting dirty. You will then be taken to the visitor centre and be told as you go about the park and how they operate. Once there, the elephants will often be waiting for you, and there is a good reason why they eagerly await your arrival.
Feeding The Elephants
You will get to feed the elephants at the visitor centre and learn about each animal as you do so, with the guide giving you the history of the various animals. The elephants will often let you know which fruit and vegetables they prefer, and if you are not quick enough, they will try feeding themselves if they can. Once the animals have eaten, they will wander off, and it is time to get some food and drink for yourself.
Playing With The Elephants
After you have eaten, you can wander around with the guide and observe the elephants in their family groups. They will often play and cool themselves off in the mud before you take them for a bath which is something they enjoy. You can scrub the elephant with a brush which is highly pleasurable for them, before wandering back to the visitor centre to get ready to leave.
Some elephant parks allow you to stay overnight, so you can do this also if you want, but the accommodation is often basic with no luxuries. It is an experience that you and your family will love and be something you remember for many years to come. You will also help to look after these beautiful animals and ensure they are well taken care of and have everything they need to be happy.
